NEWS - Le' Ham; a Rotastac Relay:
On Saturday 11 April 2009, 'Le' Ham; a Rotastac Relay will take place at Heron Corn Mill, Beetham in Cumbria as part of the 'Watching T.V by Candlelight' Festival. The project is a collaboration with my partner, artist Will Pollard. The event will humourously unearth and explore links between nature, humans and technology; and raise questions of the individual's role within these complex relationships. The fesitval will feature projects based around renewable sustainable energy and the revival of redundant power and propulsion ideas at a time when the Corn Mill has itself been restored, and a 100kw Kaplan Hydro Turbine has been installed in the weir to generate energy for the site.
Up to 12 people dressed as giant hamsters will race bicycles around a circular track to help create cheek-fulls of positive energy! Unlike Le Man, this race will not be a 24 hour test of endurance, nevertheless teams of participants will join together to harness enthusiasm and collective will-power which will light up the grounds of Heron Corn Mill.
